Why is there an extra crease in my packaging sleeves?
Why do my sleeves have a crease in the side panel? What even is a false crease and is it necessary?
If you’ve noticed the ‘false crease’ in your sleeves and are wondering what it’s all about, watch this video. Printed packaging questions answered by our team of trusted experts.
The extra crease is something that we call a false crease, essentially what this does is once the sleeve is glued it means it can fold completely flat.
We do this mainly for packing because if we didn’t the sleeves would be very bulky. You’d probably get 100 in a box compared to 500 for example, so it would take up a lot more space. There’s also the risk of the sleeve crushing etc so the crease is in there purely for packing purposes.
What we do with the other creases, which are critical to the packing end, is we pre break those so that they are looser and ready to go. But they shouldn’t cause you any problems, you’ll barely notice it, but have a chat with our team if you are worried about it but we always try to make sure that the false crease isn’t crossing any important text or imagery or icons.
