Creative Crash Lock Boxes for Food & Drinks Packaging
Crash lock boxes (aka auto lock and self locking boxes) have a flat-pack and quick-to-assemble design which helps to reduce storage space and speed up your assembly time for a quicker and smoother production line. This makes them perfect for food and drink packaging!
All of our printed crash lock boxes are designed and printed in-house so together we can create packaging that is completely bespoke to your brand and product.
We pride ourselves in our fast turnaround times, consistent quality and friendly, skilled in-house printing experts who aim to exceed our customer’s expectations every time.
What is a Crash Lock Box?
One of our favourites, a crash lock box (aka an auto lock box) is a box that features a base that assembles ‘automatically’ and locks into place when the box is unfolded. This unique self locking base design means no glue or tape is needed to secure the base of the box. This type of auto lock box is ideal for hand filled packing because the assembly is very fast and efficient. Due to their complexity and multi-gluing elements, crash lock boxes tend to have a higher production cost, but that is often more than offset by the savings you’ll make in packing time.
Crash lock boxes are very versatile and a great retail packaging solution for pre-packed frozen food, chilled food, deli food, drinks packaging, snack boxes, gift sets, food kits and cosmetics to name a few.
Not only do crash lock bottom boxes pack flat for more streamlined storage, they can also be mixed with a range of other flap styles to create innovative packaging solutions. For example, you could combine a crash-lock base with a gable top closure to create a unique pouch shape, which can be seen in the Whites Fried Chicken Boxes case study below.
