A new initiative for anyone involved in marketing in the South West has been set up by two local marketers: Simon Besley from Devon-based innovative print company Newton Print and Lizzie Hardy from leading South West probiotic manufacturer ‘Protexin’.
“We love talking about marketing” says Simon, “and have spent many a happy phone call and meeting chatting about ideas to help boost our own brands and businesses. We then thought it would be nice to have a bigger local network of people to be able to bounce off.
“After searching through all the networking opportunities available in the South West we just couldn’t find an appropriate event specifically for marketers.”
“There is so much local marketing talent out there, everyone is so busy working away in their own businesses, it can get very isolating for a marketer.” Says Lizzie Hardy “We thought that other marketers in the South West might be feeling the same as us; that they would love to touch base every now and again with like-minded people from other businesses to share experiences, ideas and inspiration.
“So we decided to take the bull by the horns and set up our own community called ‘Marketer Hub’ to help fellow marketers in the South West network, learn and gather inspiration from each other” Simon adds. “We have created an official Facebook Group page for marketers to share marketing-related articles, inspiration, questions and advice. Over the course of this year and beyond we’ll be holding networking events on various topics marketers feel passionately about at inspirational local venues.
“Our first ever event was held in June 2017 and discussed the topic of digital and social media with 20 marketers from regional businesses – all sat around a table for an inspiring 2-hour get-together at the beautiful Muddifords Court Country House, near Tiverton.”
“Due to overwhelming feedback from our first event our next topic is likely to be on Internal Communications and Team-Building in Oct/Nov time.” Says Lizzie “It’s important to note that these events are run by marketers for marketers and we are guided by the suggestions from those involve so that we can keep topics relevant.”
“I found the event very insightful and look forward to the next one. It was very well presented, enjoyable, very informative and interesting to chat to others in the marketing arena.” (Sarah Kemp, Lorient Polyproducts)
“Thank you so much for organising such a great morning – I wish I could have stayed longer and had a drink in the sun! It was just so nice to be in a room with a bunch of like-minded marketing people. Looking forward to the next one!” (Lauren Hagon, Swallowfield PLC)
Word is spreading fast, so if you are interested or know of any fellow marketers that may benefit from this initiative we would love to hear from you. If you’re in marketing, brand management or communications we genuinely believe you will benefit from this unique networking and resource hub.
Spaces will be limited at each event but the Facebook page and other lines of communication will always be open to share the knowledge. Best of all… we’re keeping the networking events completely free to attend!
